Purpose and acceptance
Light Up Our World helps people share personal messages of love, appreciation, and gratitude. By checking the agreement box and submitting a message, you agree to these Terms of Service. These terms apply to your use of the Light Up Our World website.
Honest identity and appropriate recipients
Use your own name and an email address you own or are authorized to use. Do not impersonate anyone, give false contact information, or imply that another person endorsed your message. Contact only people you reasonably believe would welcome your message. Stop if they ask you to stop. You are responsible for checking the recipient’s contact details and selected location.
Respectful use
Do not send threats, harassment, hate, sexual exploitation, deceptive content, scams, unlawful material, advertising, bulk solicitations, or repeated unwanted messages. Do not use the service to collect other people’s information, bypass sending limits, interfere with security, or distribute malicious links or files.
Privacy and location
Provide only information needed for your message. Do not include passwords, financial details, health information, or another person’s private information without permission. Use an approximate city or town when possible; avoid placing a pin at someone’s home or other sensitive location. A map light may reveal the selected location publicly. A first name and message can also identify someone, even without a surname.
Your content and the Wall of Love
You retain ownership of your message and must have the rights and permissions needed to share it. You grant the operator a nonexclusive permission to store, process, and display your content only as reasonably needed to operate the service and your selected sharing options. Posting on the Wall of Love is optional. If you choose it, your message and the sender’s and recipient’s first names may be publicly visible and copied by others. Do not publish a message that exposes someone’s private information or would reasonably be unwelcome as a public post.
Sending and third-party services
Submitting the form does not prove delivery or that a recipient read a message. WhatsApp and Messenger sending requires your own account and your final action in that service. Third-party platforms have their own terms and privacy practices. Submitting a message lights up the selected location on our map. Email delivery is handled through our email provider.
Newsletter consent
Agreeing to these terms does not subscribe you or the recipient to a newsletter. Newsletter signup is a separate, optional choice. Do not subscribe someone else without their permission. Newsletter subscriptions require email confirmation and offer an unsubscribe option.
Moderation and misuse
The operator may reject or remove content, limit sending, or suspend access for suspected misuse, security issues, or violations of these terms. The operator does not endorse user messages and cannot guarantee that every message is reviewed. Report unwanted messages or other concerns to admin@lightupourworld.com.
Availability and responsibility
You are responsible for your submissions and for complying with applicable law. Delivery, uninterrupted availability, accurate map placement, and prevention of every misuse cannot be guaranteed. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided as available without additional warranties, and the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from its use. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable mandatory consumer rights.
Claims arising from misuse
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to reimburse reasonable losses and costs arising from third-party claims caused by your unlawful content, impersonation, or intentional violation of these terms. This does not cover losses caused by the operator’s own unlawful conduct or obligations that cannot legally be transferred to you.
